Savvy Ways To Get Wet And Muddy!

Witaj Bloggers! (Language: Polish)

On Wednesday 20th November 2019, the year 3-8's from SFOA competed in Tough Kids. (Like a Mud Run) Tough Kids is an event that kids from all different schools take part in and have heaps of fun. There are around 17-18 fun and challenging courses\activities to take part it. The activities invovle: jumping over things, go under things, getting wet, muddy and more!
Some of the activities that we all took part in were:

  • Running\walking through water. (The Sea)
  • Jumping over tyres.
  • Crawling under ropes, decks etc..
  • Completing a Bouncy Castle (That had obstacles and was wet!)
  • Slipping down the Slippery slide while getting sprayed with water.
  • Walking Planks

This was a really great thing to take part in and I can't wait to do it again sometime soon!

Have you ever competed in Tough Kids before? (Or a Mud Run?)
(I'm not sure if there were any photos taken at this event or not but if there were, I will post them up soon!)

Maths Presentation-ScreenCastify

Bonjour and welcome back!

Across these last few weeks, the whole hub (The year 7&8 Kaupeka hub) has been assigned a task about maths. We were shared a problem solving doc and had to figure out four different ways we could see the pattern growing. Then we had to share a story and see if we could do it another way. After completing all those, their were 5 more question down below that were a little bit more challenging and invovled a whole lot more thinking by using our brains and knowledge. After answering everything on this doc, we had to video ourselves compelting this and answering all the questions in good depth.
Down below is a slideshow that I have created answering all the questions with my answers. (Please feel free to leave some comments and feedback down below!!)

Have you ever done some Maths Problem Solving like this before?
Did you enjoy it if you have? Why? Why not?
If you haven't done this before, will you be willing to give this a go?

Term 1, Week 7, Free choice- Leadership Groups!

Quote of the day!
"People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads with pride and the boss drives."

Welcome back! I hope you guys are having an awesome day! Today I will be talking to you about our amazing leadership groups! Enjoy!

On Monday 4th Feburary 2019 we started to discuss what leadership groups we could apply for and the order we wanted our choices to be in. Our final choices were: Media Team, PALS, Googlers, The Arts, Enviourment and STEM. Here is a little bit about each leadership group.

Media Team: Media Team is where we make the SFOA news, do a bake sale to earn money that would go towards something for us and to prouduce more things that are really exciting.

PALS: PALS is PALS. Well it actually is our sport group where they lead the whole school in sporting activites. Some examples are: Practises for Athletics, Sausage Sizzle, House Color activites and more! This is such an awesome group and if you ever got the choice to be in a leadership group, I would suggest this one if it's not already on the list.

Googlers: Googlers is the computer coding group. We do computer comps, get to use new toys that invovle technology, help out people with computer coding and more.

The Arts: The Arts is a group where they do drawings and create comps for everyone across the school. They also do other stuff that goes across their name. (The Arts)

Envoiurment: Envoiurment team is where they look after our school and nature. They put up signs to tell us what to stop and how we can help with things and more.

STEM: STEM is a group where they teach science, technology, engering and maths.

So now that you have had a little brief on what each group does, here is my order that I put down from the groups that I wanted to be in to the ones that I didn't.

1.) Media Team
2.) PALS Team
3.) Googlers Team
4.) Enviourment Team
5.) STEM Team
6.) The Arts.

How do you think of my choices of order?

Well can you guess what group I got put into? Why don't I tell you! I got into...
GOOGLERS! YAY! I can't wait for all the things we get to do through-out the year.

Have you ever been into a leadership group before? If so, what were you in?

Week 7 Free Choice Blog!!

Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog!

In this post I will be talking to you about this weeks learning and next weeks learning. Feel free to write some feedback in the comments below. Make sure they are positive!

Here are some things that we have done this week and what we are going to do next week!

On Monday (30th of April) it was the first day back at school for term 2. It was busy but fun. We did the usual stuff that we do every other day, but we also got introduced to some new things as well. We got to sign up to a new novel for the term and went to technology. This term I am in plastics which is cool and very fun. We got to design some things that we could make and then after pick a final one which we will start to make next week. After that we went around each tool and got shown what to do with it and the safety about it. Later on we got introduced to the computers and what they are for. Then it was time to go! It was a very fun afternoon. Later on when we had arrived back from technology it was after school and I went to code club. I am loving it as I am getting introduced to new coding sites and coding we are coding some awesome games! That was fun as well!

On Tuesday (1st of May) it was another usual day except some more new things as well. We got to sign up for writing workshops with three choices. They were jumping frogs, learning the moonwalk and making a mud cake. I chose making a mud cake which was fun! The rest of the day was the usual. It was fun but not as fun as Monday.

On Wednesday (2nd of May) we worked on our Caritas work for most of the morning. The after morning tea we listened to our novel and then listened to a priest that came to visit. After that it was the same as any other day.

On Thursday (3rd of May) was cross country. (I have mostly talked about it in the other blog but will give a quick brief here:)) We walked to Walter park listened to the briefing, did our races, packed up and then walked back. When we were back we started finishing any work off that was due by Friday. I had nothing due but was looking at science and math badges. They sound super fun and can not wait to start them soon!

On Friday (4th of May) it was mufti day. To where mufti we had to bring either a can of evaporated milk or a coin donation. I brag the evaporated milk which was cool. Then for the rest of the day we did math's, cyber smart, fitness, rubric, timetabling and finishing off. It was a great first week back and can't wait for the next week to begin.

Here is now next weeks things that we will be doing on each day that I know of!

On Monday (7th of May) we are doing technology and finishing off work. For technology I will be starting to make my object that I chose. My one is a donut. When i get back I will be doing code club.

On Tuesday (8th of May) I will be finishing off work and doing my language rotation. I do Te reo. It's so fun and I personally would recommend it to people who would like to learn Te reo. Write down in the comments if you would like to know how to learn it at home.

On Wednesday (9th of May) I will be finishing of work that needs to be done.

On Thursday (10th of May) I will be finishing of work and doing netball practice for Hagley sport that starts in week 3.

On Friday (11th of March) I will be going to Assembly, working on the Caritas challenge and finishing off work.

I will be updating these days if I have missed something!

What do you do at school?

World Maths Day!

Hello Bloggers!!

Over the last few weeks me and my hub have been using Mathletics. Mathletics is a website where you learn maths that you don't know. You either start of with hard maths challenges or easy maths challenges. After one week you start going up a level if you did well. If you didn't do that well  you would either get the same task again or get a similar one. My tasks that I was given were so fun and challenging.
It was so much fun learning new maths and having a go at Mathletics and seeing what it was all about.

Have you ever done Mathletics before??

Last week our school was involved in World Maths Day. World Maths Day is a challenge where you do maths. You had four options of who you could verse. They are: competing around the world, your school, computer players and your home base. At the top of the page you could choose the level that you competed in. The ones that you had were the ones that were in circled in a pentagon.
I has so much fun with the World Maths Day challenges and would love to try it again next time.

Have you ever participated in the World Maths Day challenges before??
