School Values

Quote of the day:
"Price is what you pay. Values is what you get."

Tena Koutou everyone,

Welcome back! Today in this blog post, I willl be talking about my school's vision and values! Let's get to it!

So during the past few weeks each hub in the school has been learning about our school's vision and values. We have been talking about what they mean, what they do to help us and what we can do to be a role model of them and use them in our daily lives. My school's 4 (Four) values are:
Integrity
Compassion
Service
Respect.
Here is a little bit about each of them.

Integrity: Integrity is where you do things without being asked and don't mind if you get noticed for it or not. Integrity is always being Honest to others in every way you possibly can.

Compassion: Compassion is where people go out of their comfort zone and go and help others with anything that is stressing them out or something like that.

Service: Service is where you go and lend a hand to communities, schools and other groups if they need any help.

Respect: Respect is where you respect your teachers and peers in everything you do across every day. It can also be respecting someone for what they did that was great.

Now that you know a bit about my school's values, lets move onto my school's vision. This vision is a long one and takes time to learn and undertstand it but when you know it off by heart you will get a deep understanding and be very confident to speak it to a big group of people. The vision is:

"Choosing to be an Innovative Catholic Learning Community that Inspires and Empowers learners to succeed."

The vision above means that we as a school want to inspire and empowers others to succeed in everything they do as well as being an innovative Learning Community.

Does you school have values and a school vision?

#Choose Kind!!

Quote of the day!
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."

Hello and Welcome back!
Today I will be telling all you readers about our Kindness act that we are going to be doing throughout this year at my school. You ready? Let's roll on round!

Around week 2, 3 and 4, we got introduced to what our theme was for the whole school this year. That is theme is Kindness. What is Kindness? Well Kindness is where you are showing Kindness to others and being role models of it to others as well. Kindness is a virtue\quality that means a lot to others as well as schools when you use it and be noticed by it.

For the Kindness act, the peer mediators and\or duty teachers will give you a card. That card is about Kindness and how that person noticed you and how you should be rewarded by it. On the card you put your first and last name and the reason why you got given the card. Then you go put that card in a jar in the officer. When my school has our values assembly, they will draw one of the cards out of the jar. If your name gets drawn out, you win a prize. That prize is a Kindness T-Shirt. If you got pulled out of the jar and got a Kindness T-Shirt, you will be so special and should feell very very happy with yourself.

What are the Kindness T-Shirts? Well throughout the past 2-3 weeks, each hub has been decortating Kindness T-Shirts. These T-Shirts that everyone is designing is for the Kindness T-Shirt prize that I talked about above. The teachers will decide a few from each hub and then pick one out of everyone in the school who's T-Shirt stood out the most to the teachers with the quotes, colors, symbols etc that were put on there.

Down below is a picture of my T-Shirt that I have designed. Do you like it?

This is why I think my T-Shirt should be published and be the winning design.
I think my design should be printed and presented to all the students at the school because it tells a really good message about Kindness and how it should be seen and heard as well as that it's birght and colorful so it stands out to people from far away. I want this to be printed and presented because I want everyone to follow in this messages footsteps and to be a role modle of it always.

Have an amazing week everyone!
Bye for now!!

Have you ever designed a T-Shirt before? If so, what was it for?

Swimming Lessons

Quote of the day!
" Swim your heart out. Stretch your arms towards your goals. Don't stop swimming until you get where you want to be."

Welcome back everyone to today's watery blog post! In this post today, I will be talking to you about swimming lessons that are happening at my school right now. Let's go and begin today with pride!

During week 5 and week 6, my whole entire school are particpating in swimming lessons at QE11. For the first week we got put into swimming groups and learnt new and old things from our swimming instructor. In week 6, the first two days we were doing  the same as last week but then for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we are going to be learning and doing things about water saftey. (Their will be an update on the water saftey soon!) From the previous swimming lessons that I have done through the school, we most likely will be learning how to save ourselves when we are stuck out at sea and how to survive when we need it the most.

Since we are in week 6 of Term 1 at school, I will post an update either on here or on another blog post about the rest of the week including the two swimming lessons and the 3 awesome days of water saftey and how we can save ourselves when we are stuck and need help really badly.

I hope you like this blog post including all my other ones as well.
Bye for now!

Questions of the week: Have you ever done swimming lessons with your school before? What was your favourite stroke and why?

PlaceMat!

Quote of the day!
"The secret of living a life of exellence is merely a matter of thinking thoughts of exellence. Really, it's a matter of programming our minds with the kind of information that will set us free."

Guten Tag! Hello and welcome back! I hope you all that are reading my blog that you are feeling really happy and ready to have an awesome day whatever you do. Anyway, back to what I am doing today! You guys are going to be reading a blog by me about my placemat! Enjoy my lovely blog post!

The first few days of school, we talked about Greatness and what it is and how we can show and be a role model to others from it. (As you can see, I have written another blog post about Greatness. Go check it out when you can!) The third week back, we started to get into work. We had a few set tasks to complete by that certain date. We got introduced to these tasks on the Tuesday so that meant they would be due Friday. Roll on down to see the first task which is an Elevator Pitch!

Our first one was an Elavtor Pitch we had to find a person who we thought was Great and how they showed Greatness. Then we had to answer questions about them. Then finally we had to video ourseleves reading out our answers to the screen from the questions. At the end, it turned out to be a kind of little speech about the person. It was so fun doing that! The next task was a placemat. (That's what my blog is about today!) Scroll on down to see more!

The second one was the Placemat. This is where we pick four (4) people who we think shows Greatness the most. Then we had to write 3,4, or 5 things about them that makes them Great. Finally in the middle we had to write down 5 things about the 4 people on the things that they had the same.

Here is a photo of my Placemat down below! Enjoy!

Questions:
Have youe ever done any of these things before? If so, what sort of tasks did you do?

Swimming Sports

Quote of the day! (Chosen by me!)
"Feel our hearts pounding, Muscles Burning, Lungs Screaming, Feel our Love and Hate for our opponent. Feel the insane drive to keep pushing. To get to the wall. To win. I am a swimmer. I am a champion!!"

Kia ora everyone! Welcome back to today's blog post! In today's lovely blog, I will be talking about our swimming sports that happened on Friday (Fri yay!!) 15th Feburary 2019. Let's roll on round!

On Friday (Last Week) our year 5-8's at my school particpated in the school's swimming sports. We left around 11:30 in the morning to head to Jellie Park were the swimming sports were getting hosted. The events that were avalible for us to particpate in were: 25m Freestyle, 25m Backstroke, 25m Breathstroke, 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breathstroke, 50m Butterfly and width races. Watching other people do these and trying their best was really fun!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to particapate in the swimming sports due to me only having braces on for a few days but like I said before, watching everyone do the swimming sports was so awesome and so fun!

It was my last year at school as I am a year 8 and I didn't get to do my final swimming sports but the other times I had done it where so awesome!

Have you ever particapted in swimming sports before? If so, did you win any races? Did you go to the finals and\or semi finals! (I Guess that's what I call it! (Lol))

"You can't pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first."

Ni Hao! Welcome! In this blog post, we will be talking about my hubs self management levels! Come take a seat and make sure to have an ear open just in case! :)

In our hub this year we have Self management levels for the year. This help us make our own choices and how to choose them wisley. The 4 levels are: Goomba Town, Cookie Canyon, Fuzzy Tree Tops and Bowsers Ultiamte Lair! Each one has a reason on what we did well and what we need to work on to get to the next level. Right now most of the hub are in Goomba Town. Their are around 10-15 people in Cookie Canyon which is awesome! Guess what! I am one of them! Yay! It's so cool to be in their! I can't wait to see what I can do to move upto the higher one which would make me so so so happy!

Have you ever had Self Management Levels before? If so, where did you get up to at the end of the year? What were the names of the levels? Were they as creative as our ones?

Term 1, Week 7, Free choice- Leadership Groups!

Quote of the day!
"People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads with pride and the boss drives."

Welcome back! I hope you guys are having an awesome day! Today I will be talking to you about our amazing leadership groups! Enjoy!

On Monday 4th Feburary 2019 we started to discuss what leadership groups we could apply for and the order we wanted our choices to be in. Our final choices were: Media Team, PALS, Googlers, The Arts, Enviourment and STEM. Here is a little bit about each leadership group.

Media Team: Media Team is where we make the SFOA news, do a bake sale to earn money that would go towards something for us and to prouduce more things that are really exciting.

PALS: PALS is PALS. Well it actually is our sport group where they lead the whole school in sporting activites. Some examples are: Practises for Athletics, Sausage Sizzle, House Color activites and more! This is such an awesome group and if you ever got the choice to be in a leadership group, I would suggest this one if it's not already on the list.

Googlers: Googlers is the computer coding group. We do computer comps, get to use new toys that invovle technology, help out people with computer coding and more.

The Arts: The Arts is a group where they do drawings and create comps for everyone across the school. They also do other stuff that goes across their name. (The Arts)

Envoiurment: Envoiurment team is where they look after our school and nature. They put up signs to tell us what to stop and how we can help with things and more.

STEM: STEM is a group where they teach science, technology, engering and maths.

So now that you have had a little brief on what each group does, here is my order that I put down from the groups that I wanted to be in to the ones that I didn't.

1.) Media Team
2.) PALS Team
3.) Googlers Team
4.) Enviourment Team
5.) STEM Team
6.) The Arts.

How do you think of my choices of order?

Well can you guess what group I got put into? Why don't I tell you! I got into...
GOOGLERS! YAY! I can't wait for all the things we get to do through-out the year.

Have you ever been into a leadership group before? If so, what were you in?

Term 1, Week 5, Free Choice- Touch

Quote of the day! (Chosen again by me!)
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Tolafa everyone! Welcome boys and girls and anyone else who is reading my blog today. (Also welcome to 2019!!)
In this really impressive blog post today, I will be talking to you about touch that I partiapate in on a Wednesday. Roll on back and relax as you read about the wonder of touch.

On Wednesday's after school, I particapate in a sport called touch. Touch is like rugby execpt you don't tackle. You have 7 in a line versing the other 7 in the other team. One team starts with the ball and then they try and get past the other team to get a try. If one of the people in the other team touch you, that counts as one touch. When you reach 6, it's hand over. Then the other team gets the ball and you have to try and stop them from getting a try and also trying youe hardest to touch them so it's quicker for you to help your team get the ball.  This is my third term of playing touch. It's so fun and I recommend you trying it and seeing if you like it. I really think you will!

My first term playing touch was really scary but in the end I got used to it. In that term of touch, my coach was Miss Hansen. She is really awesome and super fun!

In my second term of playing touch, I started to play really well and almost scored a few trys. At the award for touch, I got MVP. (Stands for: Most Valuable Player!) I was so happy with myself! For that term, my coach was Maureen. She was super cool and always cheering us on and encouaging us to finish the challenging battle.

Finally this term (My third term) I have just started this season. So far it's going good but I am a little scared and also getting used to touch. Guess who my coach is! Miss Hansen! YAY!! Like I said earlier she is so cool and really fun and I feel very lucky to have her as a coach again for this term's touch.

Have you ever played touch before? Did you enjoy it? Why? Why not?

Term 1, Week 3, Free Choice- Kaupeka Digi Awards!

Quote of the day: (Chosen by me!)
"Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the Human Spirit. We are all in this notion together. The potential for greatness lives with-in each of us. "

Hello and welcome back to 2019! I hope you guys have had a great first few weeks of the new year. Before I start to get into today's blog, I will be telling you guys that every time I do a blog post, the starting of it will be with a quote. The qoute will fit into the theme of the blog! Anyway, let's begin!

Today in this lovely deep thought-out blog post, I will be talking to all the people that are reading this blog post about the Kaupeka's Digi Awards. Let's begin!

Over the term we will be talking about Greatness, Who we think shows Greatness the most, Some Greatness activites and then our final thing- our Kaupeka Digi Award project that fits in the theme of Greatness.

For the Kaupeka Digi Awards, we will be using the criteria and the rubrics of the Canterbury Digi Awards. We will be judged on all the things that are included in the rubrics and then the best out of everyone in Kaupeka who fits into all the requirments will win a prize and one of the placings.  The catergorys that we can enter into are: Storytelling, Commercial, Coding, Open and Website. We also can enter with people in our group or by ourselves. I am doing a website with my friend Samantha. We will be including a video about Greatness and how we can show it in school time, Some info on Greatness and what it is, Some coding animations about Greatness and some detailed Google Drawings around Greatness. We have a clear plan on what we each of us have to do and are ready to face the big challenge that is coming ahead really soon.

At the end of the term, we will have our own Kaupeka Digi Awards were we have a look at everyone's entries and applause everyone who did a great job out of their chosen catergory as well as winning that certain place with the prize.

Have you ever particpated in some sort of Digi Awards before? If so, what category did you enter in and did you win? If you haven't, why not face your fear and give it a go. I am 100% sure you will like it!!.
