Week 1 Free Choice Blog!

Hello Bloggers!

Today (30th of April 2018) was the first day back at school for term 2. This term was going to be so fun! We will be doing a 24 hour challenge, science badges, math badges, science fair and loads more. But I won't be talking about this in this blog, this blog for today will be about a Cake in a Mug. Let's start!

A Cake in a Mug is basically a small cake that you make in a mug.  Today we had the opportunity to sign up for a writing workshop. I chose the writing workshop of a cake in a mug with one of my teachers Miss Wilson. We were going to be learning about how to make a cake in a mug and how to write instructions on how to make stuff. Firstly we went over the ingredients and materials. Secondly we went down to the staff room and watched Miss Wilson make the cake in a mug. While making it she set us a challenge. When she said go we had to go upstairs and write the instructions. If they were perfect and she liked it, you would be able to taste a bit of the cake in a mug. I was around 5th and never got to taste the cake but that did not matter. She also had told us that we were going to make it tomorrow and eat it which was awesome! That was a great writing session!

Here is my recipe that I did on how to make a cake in a mug!

Mug Cake Instructions!!

Ingredients:
1 egg
1\4 of a cup of sugar
1-2 tablespoons of cocoa
Decoration (Optional)

Materials:
A mug
Fork
Spoon
Microwave

Instructions:
Step 1: Crack 1 egg into a cup.
Step 2: MIx the egg with a fork.
Step 3: Measure out a 1\4 of a cup of sugar and pour into the mug.
Step 4: Next grab 1-2 tablespoons for cocoa and pour into cup. (Depending on how chocolaty
you want your mug in a cup to be.)
Step 5: Add your decoration in (If you want it in your cake) (Optional)
Step 6: Grab a fork and stir the mixture until combined.
Step 6: Put the mug into the microwave roughly for 60 seconds. (Watch the microwave the
whole time just in case it overflows.)
Step 8: When the timer is up have a look and see if you like it or not. (If not put it back in for
how many seconds you like.
Keep doing that until you think it's ready for you!)
Step 9: Add your decoration to your cake (Optional)

Step 10: Once done enjoy!

Have you ever made a cake in a mug before or something like that?

Team Building!

Hi All!
Over the last 4 days we have been doing Team Building.
Team Building is where you get into groups and make something that the teacher has given you to make within limited time.
Our goal for Team Building was... To work well with any classmates and see what skills we have altogether.
Each day we would go with a teacher and make what they ask us to make.
On Monday the 24th of July 2017, me and my home base were going to do cup stacking. Cup stacking is where you have six cups and you have a piece of string (with a rubber band on it) and you have to try and stack the cups with-out using any body parts. My Team did really well!

On Tuesday the 25th of July 2017, we made a marshmallow stack. Marshmallow stack is where you have 35 marshmallows and plenty of spaghetti and you have to make a building that would stay up for more than 10 seconds. My group won because our building was the only one standing.

On Wednesday the 26th of July 2017, we got given to make a stretcher. What we had to do was make a strong stretcher that would hold a pile of 3 books and a cup of water. When it was time to finish, we had to go outside and see if the stretcher was stronger enough to hold everything. Our teams Stretcher broke when they put the things on. It was a bit of a shame but our team got a long with it.

On Thursday the 27th of July 2017, We had to make a Paper Chain. A Paper Chain is where you have to connect little rings to make a Paper Chain. My team did awesome because we had the longest chain ever!

Do you know how to work together as a team to make something work?
Write in the comments if you know how to!
