Term 4 Shared Cultural Lunch! (Week 1 Set Blog )

Kia Ora Bloggers,

Today in this blog post, I will be talking to you about our Shared cultural lunch that happened on Thursday 18th October 2018!

Let's get to it!

Firstly here is our PBL driving question that we are focusing on for this term. It is:
How do we successfully design, build, market and sell a product that meets the needs of our cultural diversity?

Process:
So on Thursday 18th October 2018 me and my hub (Kaupeka) had a shared lunch. We had a shared lunch because this term for PBL we are doing a market and focussing on cultures from around the world.
On Monday (The 15th) we all picked out a small piece of paper from a box. On the piece of paper was a country. That country was what we had to focus on for the shared lunch. When we all had found out our country, the teachers asked us to bring in a food from that country. Their were so many that we each could of picked from but the ones that we picked were set and stone. When I turned the piece of paper over, guess what I got! Italy! I thought that this was going to be an easy country to find some food. After that we had to go round asking each other who had the same country as you. In my Italy group I had, Anabelle, Guy and Finn. We sat down and discussed what we were bringing. Me and Anabelle were making a shared dessert called Tartufo. Finn was bringing spaghetti and meatballs and Guy was bringing pizza. After that we searched up some recipes and then left for lunch.
On Tuesday (16th) when we had finished school, me and Anabelle went to my house to make the Tartufo. We tried to start at 3:30 as this whole recipe takes 5 hours frezzing time and around 40-50 minutes to make before freezing. When we had finished the first lot, Anabelle left and later on came back to my house to do the secondp part. Later on we dropped her off back at her house and then went home. The next morning, I had the job to put the Tartufo in mini cupcake\muffin holders and wrap them tightly in plastic. This was very fun. We left the Tartufo in the frezzer until Thursday morning.

When thursday morning arrived, I out all the Tartufo's in a big container and took them to school ready for the shared cultural lunch.

When it was time to get all our food out, me and Anabelle had a look at our Tartufo's. They were starting to melt! AHHHH! We quickly picked the ones that weren't melted and then went back upstairs.

Shared Cultural  Lunch:

Around 1:30 on Thursday 18th October 2018, we started eating the food that we bought for the shared cultural  lunch. We firstly did savories, then sweet. When everyone had got some food from the savories section, the teachers let us go for seconds as their was food still left. Later on it was time for the sweet section. This was my favourite. Like I said before, when everyone had some food, we got to have seconds. Even better!

When that was all finished we sat down and wrote a blog post about today. (That's what I am writing about now!:))  This had been such an awesome experience and can't wait for another one!

My Opinion and what I learnt:

My opinion on this was aweseome. Why? Well it was so cool to experience food from different cultures and to taste different foods that I had never tasted before. Also the way on how we had to find a food\meal to create. Eg: Research..

What I learnt:
In this shared Culture lunch, I learnt what foods came from which country, how many meals\food can come from other countries and the taste of the foods that we their on the day. This was such a challenge but a fun one too. I can't wait for the teachers to do something like this again soon.

Have you ever done a shared cultural lunch before? If you have what country did you do? What food did you make?
