Bonjour Everyone!
Today in this blog post, I will be talking about speeches.
Enjoy!
On Monday 20th August 2018 and Tuesday 21st August 2018, the Kaupeka hub presented speeches to their homebase. (I'm Homebase 1). We were doing this because the teachers wanted to see how awesome we were with writing speeches and who would stand out to the teachers so they could choose who would go to the speech semi finals and then finals. On Monday after morning tea, we started the speeches. I was really nervous and definitely did not want to go first. Guess what! My teacher (Miss Hansen) picked me to go first. AHHHH! I had so many butterflys in my stomach but when I started reading, I got more confident and then felt fine. Your probably wondering what my speech was on. Well it was on why primrary aged students should recieve homework. When my class found out, everyone hated me. Over the rest of that day and Tuesday everyone had presented some awesome speeches. I was very impressed!
Here is the first paragraph of my speech:
Have you ever heard people say things like my dog ate my homework! What do I do now? Well that is one commonly excuse that children LOVE to use to get out of doing their homework. Did you know that only 17% of people do their homework each day! Now that’s hardly any! In this speech today, I will be talking to you about three main points that are based on homework and why you should do your homework.
Before I end this blog post, I would like to say a congrats to the people who got into the semi finals. I didn't which was a shame, but I am still very proud of myself and the people who got in.
Have you ever presented a speech before? What was your topic? Did you enjoy presenting? Why? Why not?
